Name: Entropy
Age: Roughly 30,000 human years (Biological age 20)
Mature Adult: Yes
Gender: Female
Species: Succubus
Placement: Land
Alignment: Neutral
Appearance: Entropy is humanoid with a thin and wiry, almost elfish, build. Her skin is silver-colored and she has a pair of leathery wings on her back as well as a pointed tail. Her hair is perfectly straight, falling to just below her shoulders, and usually worn in a ponytail. Her wings, tail, hair, lips, and claw-like nails are black in color. She is five feet and seven inches tall.
Personality:
For a succubus, she really isn’t very lustful. In short, Entropy is less interested in consuming men’s souls and more interested in “taking over the universe.” She likes to call herself a genius and indeed seems to have a very strong command of both philosophy and military strategy. Several times throughout the years she has risen to the position of Overlord in various netherworlds, but that can be a difficult position to hold for more than a few hundred years. Luckily for her, she usually knows when to disappear.
At the same time, Entropy often has a tendency to act in ways that can only be described as “just plain silly.” Things that should be obvious can easily miss her notice, and concepts that should be common knowledge will often completely bewilder her. Though she possesses a vast amount of arcane knowledge and strategic ability, someone meeting her in person could easily take her for a fool.
Despite her overblown ambition, she isn’t actually a very bad person. In fact, she would be best described as cheerful and friendly. Generally, she will try to lend a helping hand wherever it is needed and will avoid harming the innocent, and is extremely loyal to her friends. On the other hand, she can be quite brutal in battle and will feel no remorse or scruple against those whom she believes to be of evil heart.
Magical Abilities:
Elemental magic is Entropy’s most powerful ability, allowing her to manipulate all four elements (earth, fire, air, and water) for various purposes, the most common one being combat. Her control over these elements also makes her extremely resistant to damage from elemental forces and allows her to defend others from these forces to a degree as well. If given time, she can also use this type of magic to enchant weapons and armor or place powerful defensive enchantments on an area. Entropy has a particularly strong affinity for the element of fire.
Having long ago learned the rigors of leaving the Netherworld, Entropy also possesses a small degree of general “convenience” magic. This type of magic doesn’t lend itself to combat, but does remove much of the need for mundane work from her life, allowing her to conjure food and water whenever she needs, get out of having to do household chores herself, maintain the air temperature around herself at a comfortable level, pull items she owns out of thin air, and heal minor cuts and scrapes.
Furthermore, Entropy has developed a small level of clairvoyance magic. She can use this to identify the magical properties of enchanted items or to place a “Wizard’s Eye” in a fixed location, allowing her to leave an area while still being able to monitor it. The Eye is incorporeal and can only be detected by other creatures through magical sight, and is capable of seeing other objects or creatures that are similarly invisible. With their consent, she can also identify the potential supernatural abilities of other creatures.
Entropy’s ability to fly is also magical in nature, as her body is not designed to be carried by her wings. Her flight speed can reach 90 miles per hour with little effort, and can reach 200 if she pushes herself to the limit. Regardless of speed, her maneuverability is perfect, requiring only a conscious will to redirect or cancel her momentum and change direction or stop at any time.
As a succubus, Entropy could devour the soul of another creature engaged in an act of passion with her. However, her interest in using this ability is nonexistent.
Physical Abilities:
Even without magic, Entropy is still a powerful warrior. Her demonic strength and speed greatly exceed that of a human, and her agility on the ground is as good as her maneuverability in the air.
Her weapon of choice is her own claws or the pointed end of her tail, which can tear through steel armor.
And finally, her wings, though not useful for flight, make effective shields which can stop even small arms fire.
Disadvantages:
With the exception of her wings, Entropy is not all that physically durable. Wearing armor to make up for this would reduce her agility and spell casting ability to the point where the benefit would be less than the loss. More complicated spells cannot be cast with her wings wrapped around herself.
She is also very weak against holy energy and will take massive amounts of damage if struck by an attack that makes use of it. Angelic creatures or creatures giving off an aura of holy power will put her on edge, and will make her panic if one approaches her unexpectedly.
Entropy must be careful with the output of magical energy, as exerting too much at once will drain her quickly. Once she overuses her magical abilities, she will be physically exhausted until she recovers, and further use of magic becomes extremely dangerous for her. Eight hours of uninterrupted sleep are required for recovery.
Though it is a magical ability, flight doesn’t normally require much of an exertion on Entropy’s part. Flying faster than 100 miles per hour, however, will pull on her energy reserves as strongly as any other spell. If her energy becomes depleted, her flight speed cannot exceed 10 miles per hour. Any condition which prevents magic from being used will also prevent her from flying at all.
Entropy’s clairvoyance magic requires undisturbed concentration, and can therefore not be used in the middle of a fight. Her ability to identify other creatures’ powers requires their knowledge, consent, and their participation in the necessary rituals, limiting its usefulness to that of either a (most likely paid) service or a method of finding potential students.
Only one Wizard’s Eye may be active at any given time, and the creation of a new one destroys the older one. The movement of the eye is limited to rotation; its position cannot be changed once set. Because there is only one eye, it has no depth perception. To see through it, Entropy must close her own eyes. The eye can be destroyed through anti-magical effects.
Entropy’s natural soul-devouring ability is something she would prefer not to even have if given a choice. She would never actually use it even in self-defense. Only strong coercion or mind control could cause her to break this principle.
Her tail is very sensitive, and getting it pulled hurts quite a bit.
History:
An aristocratic succubus from the demonic city-world of Felcaer, Entropy is an ancient sorceress who has risen to the rank of Overlord among the demons of the netherworlds many times in her life. Several millennia ago, by her reckoning, she spent a number of years living in a mortal realm known as Deep Forest while attempting to hide from the enemies she had at the time. She eventually returned to the throne of Felcaer, however, and soon afterward found herself cut off from that place as interdimensional forces caused Felacaer’s timestream to diverge from that of Deep Forest. By the time the two timestreams intersected again, several thousand years had passed for Entropy. For Deep Forest, on the other hand, the intersection was took place a few years before the divergence, so that if Entropy were to return then, she would be in danger of encountering the younger version of herself who lived there.
At this time, she was not actually in a position to return to Deep Forest, as she had been dethroned yet again and imprisoned due to a fiasco in which she had attempted to show off a new set of clothing in public after being convinced by the tailor who made them that they were “invisible to anyone who was foolish or unfit for their office.” She was, therefore, not even aware that the time-warp had taken place.
Entropy’s imprisonment was not to end until a human mage from a world called Draan performed a summoning to call her forth. While Entropy would normally not have responded to a summoning, this one looked like it was probably going to be the only foreseeable chance she would have to escape, so she took it.
As it turned out, the mage’s intentions in summoning a succubus were predictable. He had not predicted, however, that a succubus could be as fiercely opposed to those intentions as Entropy was, nor as capable of holding her own in a contest of magic. As a result of this underestimation, the twisted wizard never got the chance to bind Entropy to his will, and the former Overlord left him as a pile of charred and torn flesh in the heart of his lair without even bothering to learn his name.
Wasting no time in making her escape, Entropy flew out from the dark city she had been conjured into in hopes of finding a more pleasant place to stop while trying to learn what she could of this world she had found herself on.
Family and Close Friends: Her mother and father are long deceased by her hand, killed in her first move on the title of Overlord. (Unscrupulous towards those of evil heart. No exceptions.) Her only real friend in the netherworlds is a Snow Queen Overlord named Isala, whose whereabouts are currently unknown to her.
Special Desire: At the moment, she is mainly concerned with getting back onto her feet. She would eventually like to reclaim the position she has lost.
Extras: There were so many fewer questions when stars were still just a hole to heaven.
In Character Entrance to Draan:
The sun was beginning to set, but Entropy could see this wasteland coming to an end farther to the east. That nasty wizard… She was still angry just thinking about it. He wouldn’t be trying that with any more succubi, at least.
Anyway... It looked like she was free again. That was good. And so, she had survived yet another fall from glory. That tailor probably hadn't acted by himself, though. She was going to need to figure out who had put him up to that stunt. Another Overlord, or... one of her own officers, perhaps?
Either way, her good name had been damaged, succubi everywhere had been disgraced, and it was going to be harder for her to pursue her ultimate goal now. She was extremely angry about that as well, of course. Angry at herself, at the "tailor," and at whoever had been behind it all. This was a more deep-seated, seething anger than the flash of fury that had been the end of her conjuror. Revenge would be dealt out for this as well, but it was going to be a long time in coming. That was an unpleasant thought, but Entropy could be patient. She would have to be.
She waited until she had gotten out of the wastes before she landed. The sun was even further down by the time she settled into a dense thicket of trees amidst the wide grassland. She thought that this would be a decent place to hide out for the night, as she still didn't know what to expect from the inhabitants of this world, or whether anyone would be coming after her for what she had done to the wizard, assuming whoever found his remains didn't conclude he had just blown himself up with a failed spell. More than that, though, the place the place brought back fond memories of Deep Forest from long ago. Of course, a small grove of trees wasn't nearly as big as that huge forest, but the memories were a welcome relief from the awfulness of the last few weeks.
Dusting off the sleeveless robe she was wearing, once an attractive shade of royal purple, now faded and dirty, she sat down on the ground and leaned back against a tree, needing a minute to rest her tired bones.
